About
A centenary talk and discussion on Hugh MacDiarmid's poem 'A Drunk Man Looks at the Thistle' with its editors at the National Library of Scotland.
The National Library of Scotland marks the centenary of Hugh MacDiarmid's 1926 poem 'A Drunk Man Looks at the Thistle', a 2,685-line modernist work in Scots. Editors Alan Riach, James Robertson and Jim Mackintosh discuss the poem's creation and key features, supported by images and audio clips, with short readings from the original and from their new response volume 'Ayont the Thistle'. The hour-long event ends with an audience Q&A.
