String Chamber Groups and Orchestra: Session 1
About
A 12-week Friday evening course where string players work in coached chamber groups towards performance standard, ending with a concert.
Open to violin, viola, cello and double-bass players with at least three years' experience, this course forms small groups of four or more players, one to a part, coached by experienced tutors. Groups rehearse independently each week with tutor guidance on repertoire, technique and rehearsal methods, aiming to reach performance standard on at least one chamber work per term. One group works as a string orchestra with a conductor, and participants are invited to perform in an end-of-term concert. Students are assessed at the first session so groups can be matched by instrument, experience and ability.
