Guide Dogs - Classic Experience - Atherton (2026)

A behind-the-scenes guided tour of the Guide Dogs Regional Centre North West in Atherton, exploring how dogs are trained to become guide dogs.

Visitors are placed into small groups and shown around the Guide Dogs Regional Centre North West by volunteer guides, learning about the journey of a guide dog from puppy to trained assistance dog. The experience may include viewing dogs in training (subject to availability), a sensory experience with a chance to walk with mobility aids, and a demonstration of guide dog equipment such as harnesses. The tour lasts approximately two hours, involves a moderate amount of walking and standing, and ends with tea and coffee and a visit to the gift shop. Organisers note the in-depth explanations may not suit very young children.
