Blueprint: Gather Presents: Half-Term Creative Workshop: Make Your Own Beast

A free drop-in half-term workshop for 11–14 year olds building cardboard nocturnal creatures and exploring them with light and shadow.

Artists Dawn East and Lauren Burrows lead a hands-on session in which participants choose or invent a nocturnal creature — fox, moth, bat, owl or something imagined — then cut, layer and shape cardboard to build it in 3D, with wings, legs, tails or simple moving parts. The session ends with experiments in light and silhouette, gathering the creatures into a temporary world of shadows. The workshop is inspired by Prem Sahib's Fox (2004), on display in the De La Warr Pavilion gallery, and no previous art experience is needed.
