Home Education Workshops (12-16 yrs)

These workshops for home-educated young people aged 12–16 use museum objects and practical activities to explore a new theme in art, history or science at each date.

Each published date offers morning and afternoon workshops in The Hub. December explores miners’ handmade gifts through resin, engraving and willow Christmas-tree craft. February covers wiring and soldering a torch, underground laser measurement and prism refraction. March examines how rocks form and change through experiments with heat, cooling and weathering; the Museum advises that heating rock samples may produce strong smells.
