Joyful Noise – Art Exhibition
About
A contemporary art exhibition at Salisbury Cathedral exploring joyful noise through painting, sculpture, text, video and sound by internationally renowned artists.
Joyful Noise brings together painting, sculpture, text, video and sound works by artists including Denzil Forrester, Christine Sun Kim and Thomas Mader, Yuri Suzuki, Sokari Douglas Camp and Phyllida Barlow, alongside new commissions from Caroline Walker, Tim Etchells and Emeka Ogboh. The exhibition reimagines the biblical call to 'make a joyful noise unto the Lord' as a modern exploration of how sound can unite, inspire and celebrate across beliefs, cultures and personal stories. Works appear throughout the cathedral, open during visiting hours, and a choral sound installation 'Abide with me' plays at set times through the day.
