Lay Vicars Concert – Abraham and Isaac

Salisbury Cathedral's Lay Vicars perform Britten's Canticle II: Abraham and Isaac with works by his contemporaries in a Britten anniversary weekend concert.

The Salisbury Cathedral Lay Vicars perform Benjamin Britten's Canticle II: Abraham and Isaac, written for alto, tenor and piano and based on the medieval Chester Mystery Plays. The programme places the work alongside pieces by Britten's contemporaries, situating it within twentieth-century British music. The concert forms part of a cathedral weekend marking the 50th anniversary of Britten's death in 2026, which continues at Choral Evensong on Sunday 22 November with Hymn to St Cecilia.
