Lunchtime Talk: We Need Nature in Schools
About
A free lunchtime talk by LBY Architects on biophilic design in secondary schools, drawing on research and a Derby school project.
May Parkes-Young and Neil Young of LBY Architects discuss how biophilic design can move beyond green roofs and living walls to become integral to secondary school architecture. Drawing on May's Architecture MSci thesis and the practice's research for the Department for Education, they centre on a biophilic secondary school project in Derby. The talk covers research on young people's relationships with their surroundings, why nature access matters in education, and introduces a biophilic design toolkit for designers, clients and building users.
