Early Music 22: Sirinu — Knights, Knaves and Amorous Escapades
About
Early music ensemble Sirinu performs medieval songs and instrumental music on the legends of King Arthur and Robin and Marion, with two performances.
Sirinu's concert explores 12th-century European songs on the legends of King Arthur and Robin and Marion. The programme opens with some of the earliest French part-songs on the Robin and Marion theme, followed by instrumental pieces on medieval fiddle, recorder, shawm and hurdy-gurdy. The songs cover themes from the joy of Spring and lost love to tavern drinking, religious conflict and a horse being shot. Two performances take place on the same day, at 4:30pm and 7pm, and the concert is supported by the Continuo Foundation.
