The Cabinet of Dr Caligari: Silent Film with Live Music from Chris Green

A screening of the 1920 silent film The Cabinet of Dr Caligari with a new live score performed by composer Chris Green.

Robert Wiene's 1920 German Expressionist classic The Cabinet of Dr Caligari is screened with a brand-new live score composed and performed by Chris Green of GreenMatthews. The score blends electronic and acoustic instruments, played live by the composer. The film, made just after the First World War, follows hypnotist Dr Caligari and his somnambulist Cesare at a small-town carnival, and its jagged sets and sinister atmosphere shaped horror, film noir and gothic cinema. The published running time is 1 hour 17 minutes.
