The Cabinet of Dr Caligari (1920)

A screening of the 1920 silent film The Cabinet of Dr Caligari with a new live score performed by composer Chris Green.

Robert Wiene's 1920 German Expressionist classic The Cabinet of Dr Caligari is screened with a brand-new live score composed by Chris Green, blending electronic and acoustic instruments and performed live by the composer himself. The film follows hypnotist Dr Caligari and his somnambulist Cesare at a small-town carnival, its jagged sets and sinister atmosphere having shaped horror, film noir and gothic cinema. Chris Green is a multi-instrumentalist who performs regularly at Shakespeare's Globe and appeared as a musician in BBC's Poldark.
