Ceruleo: Voices of Longing
About
Ensemble Ceruleo performs music of Barbara Strozzi and her contemporaries in a York Early Music Christmas Festival concert.
Ceruleo present a programme celebrating the music of Barbara Strozzi, one of the greatest composers of the 17th century and the most published composer of secular song of her time. The concert explores music of passion and desire — for love, for longing, for answers to life's questions or relief from life's burdens — pairing a selection of her finest works with instrumental pieces by her contemporaries. The performance lasts approximately 75 minutes and forms part of the York Early Music Christmas Festival, with mince pies served on arrival.
