Raising the Wreck: Revisited
About
Raising the Wreck: Revisited reimagines Sue Frumin’s pioneering play about four women pirates whose stories are carried through time. Blending history, mythology and contemporary politics with humour, music and storytelling, the production asks which stories are remembered.
Jenny first visits the women’s shipwreck in 1985; in 2026 she falls through time again, carrying a mobile phone and questions. The play was written by Sue Frumin and was first commissioned by Gay Sweatshop Theatre Company. It was one of the early British plays to feature a multiracial cast of women and lesbian lives. Directed by Hannah Tyrrell-Pinder and designed by Lara Booth. Suitable for ages 16+.
