Professional workshop: Engaging with communities. Why and How?

A professional workshop for theatre-makers, artists and community organisers on engaging communities in socially engaged theatre practice.

Part of acta's Elevate skills-building programme, this open session explores how to engage communities from different cultural backgrounds, including using English-as-a-second-language workshops as a gateway. Participants discuss methods and exercises, adapting approaches to groups with different needs, and see past acta projects in context through short films. The workshop is aimed at theatre practitioners but also community organisers, campaigners and artists working in community settings.
