A family festive trail through Strid Wood at Bolton Abbey, where clues based on the '12 Days of Christmas' carol help solve a mystery on the trail sheet.

The 12 Days of Christmas trail returns to Bolton Abbey, running daily from 9am to 4pm between 28 November 2026 and 3 January 2027. Starting at the Cavendish Shop, the linear route follows the Green trail through Strid Wood up to the Strid, with activity sheets issued on entry. Families solve clues linked to the popular carol to complete the festive mystery, and are encouraged to return by a different route to avoid overcrowding. The trail is suitable for wheelchairs and pushchairs, and dogs on leads are welcome.
