Telling New Lanark’s Stories
About
An oral-history and community storytelling day built around New Lanark’s archive, with a short film, volunteer-led storytelling, archival conversation, genealogy research and a chance to record memories.
Part of Lanark Community Development Trust’s Storytelling Festival. In Robert Owen’s School for Children, visitors can watch a ten-minute film curated by research volunteers from the Voices of the Village oral-history archive, join storytelling in the Historic Classroom, look through archival material over tea and cake, explore the People of New Lanark genealogy tree of more than 3,000 people, and take part in object-based storytelling or contribute an oral history.
