The 2026 Charles Simonyi Lecture features Venki Ramakrishnan discussing his book Why We Die: The New Science of Ageing and the Quest for Immortality. He will cover the biological causes of ageing, promising approaches to combat it, and the social and ethical consequences of extending life. Ramakrishnan, who shared the 2009 Nobel Prize in Chemistry for his work on the ribosome, is joined by Marcus du Sautoy for the lecture.
