Double Double Toil and Trouble - Herbology Lesson
About
A wizarding-themed children's herbology workshop in St Nicholas Priory's medieval kitchen, part of the South West Shakespeare Festival.
Lightbear Lane returns to the medieval kitchen of St Nicholas Priory for a playful herbology lesson for children and their accompanying adults, presented as part of the South West Shakespeare Festival. Participants examine a 200-year-old herbal, experiment with herbs, learn about natural remedies and plant identification, make herbal drawings, and explore Shakespearean plant references — including how to keep a mandrake from screaming. Children wear cloaks, take home a decorated jar, and can make a badge and take photos afterwards; the workshop lasts around 60 minutes with extra time for badges and photos. Sessions are led by practitioners Drs Morgane and Spencer, and all children must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
