October Half Term 2026
About
Family half-term activities at Durham Cathedral including light-art crafts, free mini tours, the LEGO® Cathedral, monk dressing-up and backpack trails.
Durham Cathedral hosts a family programme over the October half-term. From Monday 26 to Friday 30 October, craft tables by the Visitor Desk offer a light-art activity (11am–12.30pm and 1pm–3pm) where children punch holes in paper and shine torches to project patterns onto the cathedral walls, and free 10-minute mini tours run from the Font (11am–12.30pm) exploring mystery objects. Throughout the week, families can borrow backpacks, visit Durham Cathedral Museum and the LEGO® Cathedral for free, build a mini-cathedral, use the monk dressing-up station, and children can eat free in the Undercroft Café with a qualifying adult meal.
