Fungi
About
A guided autumn mushroom walk in Burley wood with mycologist Claudio Bincoletto, including a woodland breakfast and a log-seeding demonstration.
Wild Rutland hosts a guided walk through Burley wood with mycologist Claudio Bincoletto to investigate the autumn mushroom species growing there, identifying species as they are found. Afterwards the group gathers for a woodland breakfast of privately grown fungi and a practical demonstration of 'planting' a log with spores. Participants take home a finished seeded log ready to fruit in a few months, plus an understanding of how to grow fungi in their own garden. A reasonable level of fitness is needed for uneven, wet and slippery ground, and allergies should be declared in advance.
