Critical Care
About
A play following four ICU nurses whose lives are transformed as COVID-19 sweeps the UK, developed from nurses' first-hand testimonies.
Critical Care is a stage play set during the COVID-19 pandemic, following four ICU nurses — Frankie, Morgan, Sam and Alex — as they face relentless pressure at work and home, culminating in one of their own being admitted as a patient. Developed in collaboration with nurses across the UK between 2021 and 2023, it draws on first-hand testimonies gathered through PhD research to portray the human experience behind the pandemic headlines. The performance runs 1 hour and 40 minutes including an interval and is recommended for ages 14+, with advisories for strong language and themes of death and suicide.
