Seiko Kinoshita: Distant: Shared Memories of Home
About
An experimental installation by Seiko Kinoshita combining folded paper, textiles, mixed reality and spatial audio to explore immigrants' memories of home.
Japanese-born, Sheffield-based artist Seiko Kinoshita presents Distant: Shared Memories of Home, an experimental installation merging hand-crafted sculpture with technology. Using folded paper, textiles, mixed reality and spatial audio, it creates an atmospheric environment of light, sound, shadow and texture. The work is rooted in the lived experiences of immigrants, refugees and people seeking asylum, with spoken memories and soundscapes gathered through trauma-informed workshops with Wakefield communities woven into the piece. An exclusive first look takes place on Friday 13 November, 18:00-19:30, during Wakefield Light Up, with speeches at 18:45.
