About

Opera North stages David Simpatico's musical adaptation of Dickens' A Christmas Carol, with Will Todd's carol arrangements sung by members of its Chorus at the Howard Assembly Room.

This new production retells Dickens' 'Ghost Story of Christmas' through eight carol singers and a narrator, following Ebenezer Scrooge's ghostly visitations one icy Christmas Eve. David Simpatico's adaptation uses Dickens' original words interspersed with Will Todd's arrangements of traditional Victorian carols, performed by members of the Chorus of Opera North with a small instrumental ensemble. Directed by PJ Harris and designed by Khadija Raza, the show runs approximately 1 hour 15 minutes and is sung and spoken in English, suitable for all ages.
