Epsom WWII Deep Level Air Raid Shelter - Underground Guided Tour 10am
About
A torchlit two-hour guided tour of Epsom's hidden WWII deep-level air raid shelter tunnels, 50 feet underground in woodland off Ashley Road.
Hidden History Tours leads an underground, torchlit walk through Epsom's municipal deep-level air raid shelter, a grid of brick and metal-lined tunnels built 50 feet underground to shelter 1,500 people. Completed in 1942, the shelter missed the main Blitz but protected residents from V1 flying bombs and V2 rockets late in the war. The tour lasts around two hours, meets at the woodland car park on Ashley Road, and participants should wear sturdy shoes and bring their own torch. Wheelchair users are asked to contact the organisers before booking.
