Remembrance: A Call to Mind
About
A free Remembrance Day programme of performances, talks, workshops and film screenings exploring conflict, memory and veterans' mental health at the National Maritime Museum.
The day opens with a Reveille and a minute's silence, followed by ceremonial drill demonstrations, dance performances by Teal Darkenwald with students from Bird Conservatoire and the Silver Swans, and a sweetheart pin cushion making workshop with artist Amanni Holland. Talks include Petty Officer Ryan Scott on his naval career, a spoken word performance by Douggie John about Second World War veterans, and a session on volunteering with Greenwich Sea Cadets. A screening of Carl Mackenzie's film Unseen Scars, about a veteran readjusting to civilian life, is followed by a Q&A. The event, organised with Ally Musthan of Matglen Veterans Hub, is suitable for all ages.
