Woodland Animal Figurine Making with Great Pottery Throw Down's Dave Short
About
A two-hour hands-on pottery workshop at Gorcott Hill where participants pinch and shape terracotta clay into woodland animal figurines, guided by Great Pottery Throw Down finalist Dave Short.
Run by The Heart of England Forest, this workshop teaches pinch-forming techniques to create small animal figures from sanded terracotta clay, inspired by the earliest known pottery — animal figurines from 30,000 years ago. It begins with an introduction and a demonstration by Great Pottery Throw Down finalist David Short, who shows how to form a fox, before participants spend 90 minutes making several figurines of their own. Each attendee chooses their best four pieces to be left with Dave for professional firing and glazing, available for collection from Gorcott Hill or his Evesham workshop, or by post for an additional £8.
