Mammoth Cinema presents: Hope is a Word film

A screening of the documentary Hope Is a Word about poet-activist Nnimmo Bassey and poetry as environmental resistance in Nigeria's Niger Delta.

Mammoth Cinema screens Hope Is a Word, an 82-minute documentary following poet and activist Nnimmo Bassey, who invites young people in Nigeria's oil-devastated Niger Delta to write poetry with him as a means of healing and resistance. Directed by Maria Galliani Dyrvik and made in Norway, Italy and Nigeria in 2026, the film explores whether the next generation can carry on the struggle. The screening forms part of the Green Libraries Week programme.
