Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark: Hauntings and the Season of the Witch
About
A sold-out poetry workshop for women and genderqueer people exploring ghost stories, folklore, witches and hauntings as prompts for new writing.
Led by poet and filmmaker Kate MacAlister, this three-hour session invites participants to write poems and stories from ghostly material: omens, family ghosts, local legends and things that keep returning. The workshop uses prompts, free writing and discussion of selected texts to explore hauntings as ways of writing about memory, atmosphere, inheritance and place. It is open to all levels with no previous writing experience needed, and forms part of the ongoing COVEN series developed from the Creators in Residence programme at Nottingham Central Library.
