About
A hands-on one-day course teaching traditional Devon-style hedgelaying with billhooks and axes, run by the Devon Rural Skills Trust.
This one-day, in-person course teaches the traditional Devon method of hedgelaying, in which young tree stems are partially severed and bent over to form a living, stock-proof barrier secured with crooks pegged into the bank. Participants are paired with an experienced instructor and learn the principles of hedgelaying and how to use billhooks and axes. The session runs 9am to 4:30pm, is open to all abilities aged 18 and over, and suits beginners and those refining their rural craft skills.
