Schumann Quartet and Martin Roscoe
About
The Schumann Quartet joins pianist Martin Roscoe for Haydn, Glass and Dvořák in a Manchester Chamber Concerts Society recital at Stoller Hall.
Part of the Manchester Chamber Concerts Society 2026-27 season, this chamber recital pairs the Schumann Quartet — brothers Mark, Erik and Ken Schumann with violist Matthew McDowell — with the society's Music Director, pianist Martin Roscoe. The programme opens with Haydn's String Quartet Op. 77 No. 2 'Lobkowitz', followed by Philip Glass's String Quartet No. 3 'Mishima', written for the 1985 film about Yukio Mishima and programmed in the composer's 90th birthday year. After the interval, the full ensemble performs Dvořák's Piano Quintet No. 2 in A major, Op. 81.
