Faux Leather Journal Making
About
A three-hour beginner-friendly bookbinding workshop making a hand-bound faux leather journal with Zoe Platt during Sunny Bank Mills' Print Festival.
This hands-on workshop, part of Sunny Bank Mills' annual Print Festival, teaches the essentials of bookmaking while participants build one complete hand-bound journal with a soft faux-leather cover and exposed spine stitching. Led step-by-step by arts educator and designer Zoe Platt of Short & Few, the session covers key tools such as bone folders, awls and book drills, and techniques for folding, measuring, piercing, stitching and attaching covers. Aimed at beginners with no previous experience, all materials are provided, though under-18s and vulnerable adults must be accompanied by a fully paying responsible adult due to the use of sharp tools.
