Creative Bookbinding
About
A four-day residential bookbinding holiday at Gartmore House where tutor Marion Archibald teaches making hand-bound books, journals and boxes.
This all-inclusive residential craft holiday offers four days of specialist bookbinding tuition alongside five nights' accommodation and full board at Gartmore House in Stirlingshire. Guests progress from simple folded and pamphlet-sewn books to hard-back books using the French Link stitch, Japanese stab sewing, long stitch, and slipcases and lidded boxes covered in book cloth and decorative papers. An Improvers variant revisits the basics and extends into Bradel spines, decorative stitched bindings and complex folded structures such as flag and lotus flower books. Tutor Marion Archibald provides all materials and equipment, and participants leave with a collection of usable hand-made books.
