Creative Book Binding – Introduction

Learn the foundations of bookbinding, from folding and simple sewn books to hardback binding and slipcases.

The four tuition days cover paper grain, folding and simple book structures, pamphlet sewing, decorative stitches and hardback binding. Participants make a hard-cover book, a hard slipcase and a lidded box, then practise techniques such as Japanese stab sewing and long stitch. Decorative papers, coloured book cloth, ribbons and equipment are supplied; guests may bring their own materials.
