Learn-To: Hand Engrave a Ring
About
A full-day hands-on workshop learning traditional hand engraving, carving an orange blossom design onto a silver ring with master engraver Dudley Withers.
This full-day workshop teaches hand engraving using traditional push tools, with participants carving a classic orange blossom design onto a silver ring. Led by engraver Dudley Withers, who trained at Sir John Cass College, the session covers tool handling and sharpening, surface preparation, design transfer and layout, and fundamental engraving strokes and control. Suitable for all levels, all tools and materials are included, and attendees take home skills to continue practising. Most of the workshop takes place in the step-free street-level showroom, with some equipment in a lower-level workshop accessible only by stairs.
