Learn-To Tap & Die (Two-day Workshop)
About
A two-day practical workshop for jewellers learning to cut internal and external threads with taps and dies, led by silversmith Pete Musson.
This intermediate and advanced-level workshop teaches jewellers and small-scale metalworkers how to cut accurate threaded holes and matching studs using taps and dies, with emphasis on alignment, fit and clean finishing at jewellery scale. Participants make practical workshop tools, threaded clasps and reference samples, with possible extra riveting techniques if time allows. Tutor-led demonstrations are followed by guided bench practice, and with only five places each attendee receives close individual guidance. The course is led by Pete Musson, a specialist silversmith and educator with over 20 years' teaching experience at the Royal College of Art.
