LEARN-TO: Experimental Enamelling
About
A one-day experimental enamelling workshop with jeweller Jessica Turrell, exploring stencil techniques and firing effects on copper.
This one-day workshop at FORGE explores hand-cut and found stencils with sifted vitreous enamel to create pattern and design, alongside under- and over-firing to alter colour and surface texture. Participants make a series of samples that could later become finished jewellery, learning metal preparation, enamel application, stencil cutting, sifting and lifting, firing and finishing techniques. Demonstrations are followed by hands-on practice, and the day ends with a relaxed group discussion. Aimed at intermediate and advanced makers with foundation jewellery-making experience.
