Basic Plumbing Course

A three-hour hands-on course teaching homeowners basic plumbing skills such as fixing leaks, replacing taps and working with copper and poly pipe.

This three-hour course at The Great British Woodshop is aimed at homeowners rather than aspiring professionals, covering the basics needed to tackle simple household plumbing repairs. Topics include water storage and hot water systems, tap washer and cartridge replacement, replacing copper pipe with poly pipe, soldering, sealing threads, isolating valves, waste and traps, and repairing toilet parts such as flush valves, flappers, handles, chains and overflows. The aim is to give participants the confidence to fix common problems themselves instead of paying for a plumber.
