Wellness Weekends: Open Studio Craft Sessions
About
Free drop-in family craft sessions at South Shields Museum inspired by the National Gallery's Mignard masterpiece, with a different themed activity each Saturday.
As part of the National Gallery Masterpiece Tour, South Shields Museum & Art Gallery hosts free drop-in craft sessions in its learning room on Saturdays, inspired by Pierre Mignard's The Marquise de Seignelay, on loan until 7 November 2026. Each week has a themed activity: 24 October is clay motifs, making sea life or mythological creatures with clay and sequins; 31 October is Flights of Fancy, crafting a winged feathery bird; and 7 November is a collaborative Mignard-themed collage mural. Children and adults can explore art-inspired crafts together.
