Forage, Fire & Draw: Make Your Own Artists Charcoal
About
An outdoor morning workshop in Spaldwick where participants forage woodland sticks, make artist charcoal over an open fire and draw with it.
This two-hour outdoor workshop by A Wilder Way shows how a simple stick becomes artist charcoal. Participants identify and gather suitable wood, prepare it and learn about the traditional charcoal-making process before lighting an open fire. While the charcoal cooks there is time for coffee and conversation, then everyone uses their handmade charcoal for a simple drawing activity — no artistic experience needed. Attendees leave with their own charcoal, drawings and the know-how to repeat the process at home; the structured part finishes around 12pm with the option to linger by the fire.
