About
A hands-on evening workshop around the fire learning ancient basketry and cordage techniques using local and seasonal plants.
This two-hour workshop at Bennison Farm begins with gathering around the fire circle before exploring familiar plants for their twisting, weaving and coiling properties. Participants learn how to extract fibres from plants, twist cordage, and then weave, coil or stitch simple forms such as mats or basic baskets. The session is for ages 18+, includes a cuppa on arrival with the kettle kept on the fire, and involves foraging for fibres and wood with a safety briefing provided.
