CWGC Tours 2026 - Buxton Cemetery

A free guided tour of Buxton Cemetery led by a Commonwealth War Graves Commission volunteer, exploring its First and Second World War burials.

The Commonwealth War Graves Commission runs a free hour-long guided tour of Buxton Cemetery, starting at the Cross of Sacrifice behind the Ashbourne Road entrance. A volunteer guide shares the Commission's work and stories of those commemorated there, including 54 scattered First World War burials — 29 of them Canadian, reflecting Buxton's Canadian orthopaedic hospital and discharge depot — and 22 Second World War burials. The tour covers about 1200 metres on paths and grass with uneven ground, and wheelchair access is available.
