About

A 45-minute talk by Andrew Littlewood on Sheffield's confectioners buried at Sheffield General Cemetery, part of the Bittersweet exhibition programme.

Andrew Littlewood of Sheffield General Cemetery explores the city's confectionery past, from familiar names like Bassett and Butler to lesser-known figures such as Thompson, Lodge and Reckless. The talk also covers local confectionery products including British wine, funeral biscuits, comfits, liquorice allsorts and barley sugar. It lasts 45 minutes and complements the Bittersweet: The Story of Sugar in Sheffield exhibition at Weston Park Museum; the related book will be available to purchase afterwards.
