The Cambridge Festival of Islamic Arts Opening Ceremony
About
An opening ceremony inaugurating the return of the Cambridge Festival of Islamic Arts, with a lecture, spoken word poetry, calligraphy and a surprise artist performance.
The Opening Ceremony inaugurates the return of the Cambridge Festival of Islamic Arts, fifty years after the original festival. The evening features a lecture by Dr Timothy Winter (Shaykh Abdal Hakim Murad), spoken word poetry by award-winning poet Rakaya Fetuga, and a calligraphy demonstration by master artist Mahmoud Atef, alongside a performance by a surprise A-list artist. Guests can also browse a book market of leading UK Muslim publishers before and after the event, and the evening is open to all regardless of faith.
