Nawa Band Concert: Ancient Sufi Invocations & Forgotten Songs from Aleppo

The Nawa Band, led by Ibrahim Muslimani, performs Sufi invocations and forgotten songs from Aleppo's musical tradition at Robinson College, Cambridge.

The Cambridge Festival of Islamic Arts presents a concert by the acclaimed Nawa Band exploring the musical and devotional heritage of Aleppo. Drawing on the city's centuries-old traditions of dhikr and muwashshaḥāt, the programme weaves together poetry, melody and spiritual remembrance from Syria's living oral musical tradition. The performance is led by Syrian musician and musicologist Ibrahim Muslimani, lasts around 1 hour 45 minutes, and is open to all regardless of faith.
