Portrait Drawing Fundamentals
About
A practical beginner-friendly portrait drawing workshop with artist Karen Harman, covering facial proportions, feature placement and figure measurement.
This six-hour, in-person workshop with artist and tutor Karen Harman teaches the fundamental measurements and proportions used to construct a portrait. Participants learn standard facial proportions, how to place features such as eyes, nose, mouth and ears, and simple measuring and construction techniques for building a portrait accurately. The session also covers how head proportions relate to the wider figure, before applying the techniques through guided drawing exercises. It is suitable for beginners and those refreshing their drawing skills, with no previous portrait-drawing experience required, and materials and equipment use are included.
