John Rutter: Requiem
About
Bristol Phoenix Choir performs Rutter's Requiem and other choral works with soloists and orchestra at St Mary's Church, Stoke Bishop.
Bristol Phoenix Choir marks the season of remembrance with an evening of choral music for soloists, choir and orchestra. The programme centres on John Rutter's Requiem, a seven-section meditation on life and death, alongside Mark Lawrence's The Singing Will Never Be Done, which the choir first performed in 2006 and which combines a narrative on the Christmas Truce with a setting of Siegfried Sassoon's poem Everyone Sang. Also featured are Janáček's The Lord's Prayer (Otčenáš), Franck's Panis angelicus and Stanford's For, lo, I raise up.
