Samhain: A Fireside Gathering
About
An evening around the fire marking Samhain with folklore, seasonal ritual, remembrance of ancestors and shared stories, songs and offerings.
The Salisbury Centre hosts a fireside gathering to mark Samhain, the Gaelic threshold into winter, with an evening of stories, reflection and seasonal ritual drawing on Scottish, Irish and wider Celtic folklore. Attendees are invited to bring a carved turnip or pumpkin lantern, an object for remembrance of an ancestor or loved one, and an optional small offering such as a song, poem, story or riddle to share in the guising tradition. No prior experience or particular beliefs are needed, and all are welcome; the fire is lit at 6pm.
