Burnham Beeches Junior Rangers: Bat Workshop

A 45-minute Junior Rangers workshop at Burnham Beeches where young people learn about bats, build a bat box and try bat surveying.

Part of a year-long Junior Rangers programme across Burnham Beeches and Stoke Common, this session introduces young conservationists to the bats of the Site of Special Scientific Interest. Participants can learn what bats are and why they matter, possibly seeing specimens up close, identify species using bat detectors and observation techniques, and try simple bat monitoring and recording. There is also the option to build a bat box to take home for a £6 materials charge. The session is aimed at ages 11–17, with under-16s accompanied by a parent or responsible adult, though under-11s are welcome.
