Santa Special Trains 2026

A festive train journey from Butterley lets children meet Santa, receive a gift and enjoy the Pinxton Puppet Show in a heated marquee after the ride.

Meet Santa aboard heritage carriages on an approximately one-hour round trip from Butterley. The package includes gifts for children, cookies, a drink for adults, and a colouring book and pencils for children; the booking page excludes non-paying infants from the gift and cookie. After the journey, visit the Pinxton Puppet Show in a heated marquee and an animatronics display. Standard adult tickets are £19.95–£21.95, children aged 1–17 £17.95–£19.95 and babies aged 0–1 £5.95–£7.95. Private compartments for up to six passengers cost £135–£155, with separately priced child/baby add-ons available. Telephone booking adds £5. The selected booking slot supplies the departure time; arrive at least 30 minutes beforehand. Contact the railway before booking to discuss mobility needs; the 1950s carriages require steps or an access ramp. Assistance dogs are permitted; other dogs are not. Swanwick Junction is closed during Santa Specials.
