From Photos to Forensics: Borders and Fatalities in Calais, Italy, and the Mediterranean Sea
About
A hybrid seminar bringing together researcher-practitioners to discuss borders and migration fatalities in Calais, Italy and the Mediterranean through performance and humanitarian forensics.
This session is part of the Migration, Performance & Policy seminar series convened by TORCH Performance Research Hub, COMPAS and the Faculty of Music. Speakers Giorgia Doná (University of East London) and Emma Cox (Royal Holloway, University of London) present practice-based and forensic research on transit spaces including Calais, Italy and the Mediterranean Sea. Chaired by Samantha Sebastian, the discussion covers agency, forced liminality, the gendered and racialised dynamics of migration, war and poverty, and the publicity of migration fatalities. The seminar runs 3:45–5 pm and is hybrid, with in-person attendance at the Schwarzman Centre and online participation via Zoom registration.
